Logicalis' Environmental Efforts Recognised with ISO14001 Accreditation
First Information Communications Technology provider in the UK to offer subsidised environmental training
Slough, Berkshire, 21 March, 2007: Logicalis, an international provider of integrated ICT solutions, has been awarded ISO14001 environmental standard certification for its commitment to reducing the effects of global warming through more intelligent use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
Particular commendation was given to Logicalis' commitment to helping its clients understand the environmental impact of their ICT solutions, as the first ICT provider in the UK to offer subsidised environmental training.
The internationally recognised accreditation was awarded following an audit and assessment period at Logicalis' UK headquarters in Slough, Berkshire.
Tom Kelly, managing director, Logicalis UK , said, "As satisfying as it is to be recognised for our commitment to reducing the impact of business on the environment, we cannot afford to rest on our laurels. Logicalis will continue to review the environmental impact of our operations, and those of our customers, identifying and implementing practices that prevent pollution, reduce waste and the consumption of natural resources."
The first step will be for Logicalis' staff to embark on the environmental training programme that it currently offers as a subsidised service to both public and private sector customers. Working with practical environmental charity Global Action Plan, Logicalis helps companies assess their environmental impact before suggesting responsible green ICT customer strategies which can play a significant role in both improving business processes and simultaneously reducing carbon emissions.
Kelly continued, "The environmental champions programme is the next step in our drive to continuously improve our green performance. We've received feedback from our customers that it helps them, and their staff, to understand the impact their decision-making and activities have on Climate Change - and helps them to start considering how they can change. It is only right that we give our own, hard working staff, the same tools and confidence to drive environmental change within our business."
In addition to its environmental training, Logicalis' long standing controls of consumption and waste management and its recycling initiatives were also praised by the BSI assessors.
